Parking: In summer, multiple cars can park by the cabin. In winter, there is one marked spot, with additional parking available for a fee (30m walk from parking to cabin).

Nearby Attractions: Easy access to Geilo for more skiing and other outdoor activities

Train: Ustaoset is serviced by Vy, with several daily departures from Oslo and Bergen, making it easily accessible year-round.

Here is easy access all year round with a road leading directly to the location, and there is plenty of parking right outside the door. On nice summer days, you can enjoy the sun from early morning until 8–9 pm in the evening 🌞. There is also an activity shed with sleds, balls, and various outdoor toys – perfect for the children!
A local hiking tip – right next to the cabin!
Just a 10-minute walk from the cabin, you'll find the impressive Hovde Stairs – a spectacular staircase with 975 steps that goes from the Hovde farm up to the beautiful Skurdalsåsen. This is a popular and newly built hiking destination in the area, perfect for those who want an active and local experience with fantastic views from the top. You can park at the intersection of Nord-Skurdalen / Nedrestøl / Tuva, and walk up until the path ends. The trail you should follow goes to the left of the farm – it is well-marked and signposted the entire way. From the top of the stairs, you can choose between several trails of different lengths to go back down. A delightful and inspiring hike for both small and large mountain goats!
Bedding and towels are included in the rental, so you can travel light and avoid extra luggage. The rental is handled by Hallingdal Rental HUB, part of Global Rental HUB, which ensures safe booking, good service, and local follow-up. Note that there is a 25-year age limit for rental.
