Description
This new and modern cabin has a fantastic location in Ballstad. Through the large floor-to-ceiling windows you have spectacular views of the sea, the harbor and the Lofoten mountains.
The cabin has a high standard and is equipped with everything you need for your stay. There are 3 bedrooms with a total of 7-8 beds: Two of the bedrooms have a regular double bed, and one bedroom has a regular double bed and a 120 cm wide bed. There is one large bathroom on the ground floor, and another smaller bathroom upstairs. The cabin has a large terrace. If the weather permits it you can enjoy your meals outside, or perhaps you prefer to sit there and enjoy the northern lights or the midnight sun?
Ballstad is the largest fishing village in Lofoten and is bustling with life. The town has almost a thousand residents. It offers easy access to Leknes (approximately 10 minutes), Svolvær and Henningsvær (a little over an hour), and Reine (1 hour). In Ballstad, you'll find a grocery store and restaurants. Ballstad lies right in the middle of the Lofoten chain of islands, and it is the perfect, pittoresque starting point for hiking trips and day excursions. In Ballstad you´ll find boat rentals, fishing trips, kayak rentals, and other activities.

Recharge at this unique and tranquil accommodation.
This cabin is uniquely situated at the top, providing excellent privacy with minimal noise and intrusion. The terrace enjoys sunlight from early morning until late evening, with the sun setting over the sea in front of the cabin.
There are two sliding doors leading to the large terrace, one from the living room and one from the kitchen. On cloudless days, you can witness the sunset over the sea from the property.
During the fall, you can find blueberries in the garden, a delightful treat for both children and adults.
There are two bedrooms downstairs with double beds, and a spacious loft with two single beds. The two loft beds can be lifted to store clothes, bags, etc.
IMPORTANT: There are also two comfortable mattresses that can be used if there are a total of 8 people. These must be placed on the loft along with the other two beds up there. The loft is a large open space on the 2nd floor, so you need to use the stairs to access it.
There is underfloor heating throughout the living room, kitchen, and bathroom for primary heating. The fireplace provides excellent warmth and a delightful atmosphere in the evening.
A brand-new sauna was built in May 2023 outside, offering panoramic views so you can enjoy the sunset or, on dark nights, the Northern Lights. -

Sjøstrand is beautifully located in the lively fishing village of Ballstad, right in the heart of Lofoten. Surrounded by majestic mountains and the sea on all sides, it’s the perfect starting point for unforgettable day trips – both nearby and throughout the islands, east or west.
At Sjøstrand, you can stay in traditional fishermen’s cabins (rorbuer) and cottages:
Two rorbuer with two bedrooms and a loft, accommodating up to 6 guests
Two smaller rorbuer for 3–4 guests
Three cottages with one bedroom, perfect for 2 guests
No matter which accommodation you choose, you’ll enjoy stunning views over Ballstad’s inner harbour and the dramatic mountains surrounding it. After a day in the mountains, out at sea, or exploring the islands, you can relax in our sauna by the pier, available for all our guests.
All rorbuer include free WIFI and parking. We also have a EV charger at an extra charge.
📅 Activities:
From June 15 to August 30, you can join a fishing trip with Captain Børge Iversen. Trips depart daily at 14:00 and last about 3 hours.
During the winter season (February 20 – April 20), we also offer guided winter fishing trips for guests staying with us.
