Welcome to Sjøstrand Rorbuer!
Sjøstrand is beautifully located in the lively fishing village of Ballstad, right in the heart of Lofoten. Surrounded by majestic mountains and the sea on all sides, it’s the perfect starting point for unforgettable day trips – both nearby and throughout the islands, east or west.
At Sjøstrand, you can stay in traditional fishermen’s cabins (rorbuer) and cottages:
One Rorbu with 3 bedrooms for up to 7 guests.
Three rorbuer with two bedrooms and a loft, accommodating up to 6 guests
Four smaller rorbuer for 3–4 guests
Four cottages with one bedroom, perfect for 2 guests
Shared toilets and showers in addition to private facilities in the cabin
Washer and dryer by the reception at an extra charge
No matter which accommodation you choose, you’ll enjoy stunning views over Ballstad’s inner harbour and the dramatic mountains surrounding it. After a day in the mountains, out at sea, or exploring the islands, you can relax in our sauna by the pier, available for rent for all our guests.
All rorbuer include free WIFI and parking. We also have a EV charger at an extra charge.
📅 Activities:
From June 15 to August 30, you can join a fishing trip with Captain Børge Iversen. Trips depart daily at 14:00 and last about 3 hours.
During the winter season (February 20 – April 20), we also offer guided winter fishing trips for guests staying with us.

Welcome to our peaceful and secluded cabin midway between Leknes and Svolvær!
The cabin consists of 3 bedrooms, a cosy open living room/kitchen, bathroom with a shower and a washing machine and a terrace where you can enjoy the magic scenery outside! The cabin also has free WIFI and a TV.
We have one bedroom with a double bed 150x200cm and two bedrooms with bunked beds. One bunked bed is 120x200cm so there is room for two if you want. Bedlinen and towels are included in your stay.
Our cabin is pet friendly so your companion is warmly welcome! But please respect that we don't want pets in the furniture's and it's not allowed to leave them unsupervised in the cabin.
From the cabin you can hike the area, past the cabin there is a trail leading around the water and halfway there is a grill hut where you can make a fire and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. You can also watch the northern lights from the cabin in the winter and the magic late summer skies with all it's colours!
The cabin is situated between Leknes and Svolvær witch is the city centres in Lofoten, there you can fint various shops, cafés and restaurants.
